Innitiki neeswarechcha (ఇన్నిటికి నీశ్వరేచ్ఛ) is an adhyatma (spiritual) keerthana by the 15th-century composer-saint Annamacharya (Annamayya), set in raga Varali and addressed to Lord Sri Venkateswara of Tirumala. It says that everything happens by the will of the Lord, and that the one who becomes his servant is protected by Hari himself. Through homely examples (a single seed cannot sprout into something else, and bitter neem cannot quickly turn into jaggery) Annamayya shows that a being's inborn nature cannot be changed by forced effort alone, and that grace comes when one surrenders. The song's themes of prakriti and its gunas and of surrender to the Lord are close to the teaching of the Bhagavad Gita, and TTD places this audio in its Annamayya Bhagavadgeetha collection. Below you will find the lyrics in Telugu, an easy-to-read English transliteration, word notes, and the meaning in English and Telugu.

Telugu lyrics

Meaning of Inniti ki neeswarechcha (in English)

This is a summary of the idea of the song, not a word-for-word translation. Annamayya uses ordinary examples from daily life to show that outward effort cannot change what one is, and that grace, not force, is the way.

  • Pallavi: For all these things it is only the Lord's will, and nothing more. It is enough to be his servant; Hari himself protects such a person.
  • First charanam: A being born of nature carries only the traits of nature. Trying to teach it to become something else only makes things hard. If you sow one seed, how can a different plant come up? Such effort is plainly a waste.
  • Second charanam: A body born of sin will lead one to sin; why would it eagerly take the path of merit? If you cook neem, how can its bitterness quickly turn into jaggery? Forcing a change from the outside is only a delusion.
  • Third charanam: Worldly birth belongs to the world; can it be compared with or made to agree with liberation? But when a person surrenders, by good fortune Sri Venkatesa looks upon him with compassion, and he then rises to a higher state.

The song reads as a gentle lesson in humility: effort and teaching alone cannot make a person what he wishes to be, but surrender invites the Lord's grace. It should be read as spiritual guidance, not as a judgement of any person.
