Hari Narayana Krishna adivo mavinnapamu (హరి నారాయణ కృష్ణ అదివో మావిన్నపము) is an adhyatma (spiritual) keerthana by the 15th-century composer-saint Annamacharya (Annamayya), set in raga Paadi. It is a humble petition to the Lord. The poet says that his mind is unsteady and his devotion is small, but the Lord's grace is great, and he leaves the rest to him. He gives three pictures to explain why that is enough: a crooked, winding stream that still reaches the earth, a small temple whose god is great, and a puppet that dances when the puppeteer pulls the strings, whether or not the puppet is awake. The audio here is sung by Vani Jairam. TTD places it in the album Annamayya Bala Gana Lahari - 3. Below you will find the lyrics in Telugu, an easy-to-read English transliteration, word notes, and the meaning in English and Telugu.

Telugu lyrics

Meaning of Hari Narayana Krishna adivo mavinnapamu (in English)
This is a summary of the idea of the song, not a word-for-word translation. Several phrases (especially in the first two verses) are old Telugu and can be read in more than one way, so please treat this as one reading.
- Pallavi: O Hari, Narayana, Krishna, here is our petition. What comes next is for you to think about.
- First charanam: Even if my wavering mind is not steady, your grace, O Lord, is right and full. However crooked and winding a stream may be, doesn't it finally enter the earth and reach its goal?
- Second charanam: My devotion may be very small, but what you give back is very great. Wherever a temple is small, they say the glory of the god inside is great, don't they?
- Third charanam: O Sri Venkatesa, even if I do not think of you, you, the inner self of every being, have taken me as your own. Even if the puppet lies lifeless, the holder of the strings makes it dance at that time, doesn't he?
The song is a gentle argument for grace. Annamayya does not claim to be steady or deeply devoted. He gives the Lord three pictures to show that this does not matter: a stream that finds its way even through many bends, a small temple that holds a great god, and a puppet that moves because of the one who holds the strings. The ending is the strongest. Even when the devotee does not remember the Lord, the Lord holds him as the inner self. In this way the song turns a confession of weakness into a statement of trust.
